Tuesday 5th November - walks *** – Felixstowe and Levington – cloudy:(.

Walk 1 – Felixstowe Ferry.

Headed out just after nine to take some weather pics, yes sad I know when I could be in a warm bed away from the grey which is still covering Suffolk. It is hard to find something new to take photos of, I did stop at The Fludyers for a change this morning to take som pics of the big breakwster and a couple of views back along the beach featuring a awfull piles of grey rock and was pleasantely surprised when Chris Page used one on this evenings weather on About Anglia! Then down to Felixstowe Ferry to see the fishing boats in the very still River Deben before returning along Ferry Road where a small car had had a bad crash, cant imagine how fast they were going! I ended up at Felixstowe Dock view point but nothing much happening there so headed home for breakfast.

Walk 2 – Levington Marina circuit.

As we are full of germs we had to cancel visiting our old friend this afternoon so I got the rolls out to de-frost for a picnic somewhere. I still managed my excercises while Mag did some weeding in the garden before I packed lunch, we had some yummy homemade soup given us by our lovely neighbours which we could heat up in our van. I decided to drive over to Levington Marina so we could enjoy lunch with a view of the Orwell and were pleased to see some deer just over the level crossing. It was very quiet on the river which is not surprising due to the gloom and light airs, a small coaster did motor past with several little grebes feeding and geese flying overhead. Lunch finished we took the wooded footpath to the back of the marina and were treated to about 50 deer running past in the distance, first time we had seen the Levington herd for ages. We then took the footpath which starts near the Harbour café to Loompit lake, as usual it was full of swan and cormarants and saw a trout jump right out of the water! We did a short section of the beach and were surprised when three peasants landed on the beach and a large flock of geese circled and landed on the lake. We were also lucky enough to spot a kingfisher three times, a lovely flash of blue to brighten the day! The cormarants were returning to roost and dry their wings and we saw a heron and a few egrets plus loads of waders feeding as the tide dropped on the river! Then back home for a hot water bottle, cupps and Lidl swiss roll, we know how to live!
